The design and concept was conceived and realized by a British design firm, Freeman XP, which has been in the industry for more than 90 years. Project management was conducted by Hypsos, an expert in museums, tech-centers and themed exhibitions.Relicase was entrusted to manufacture and install all the display cases in the museum for its accumulated experience in global museums, art galleries and libraries.

In December 2014, in partnership with Gallagher USA’s Singapore office, Relicase and Trika were given the task of delivering highspecification and customize Storage system display cases for all the galleries. Showcases were painstakingly designed and crafted to suit specific galleries. For example, an almost 5m long Mapcase, consisting of four separate showcases, was created within a 2.5 ton metal casing. Various compartments for concealing the functional equipment such as fibre optic lighting systems, semi-automatic soft-closing mechanisms, passive Artsorb ventilators, electronic controls for opening and even a table-top touch-screen were incorporated into this multi-tier assembly. Anti-reflective glass was assembled and bonded at site with fully mitred joints.

The Museum of Islamic Art Doha is so far the most comprehensive museum themed on Islamic Art. It contains Islamic artworks from all over the world. Paintings, glass, metalwork, manuscripts, and textiles dating from the 7th century to the 13th century BC stitches together a glorious history of Islam. Collaborating with famous French interior designer Wilmotte & Associés SA, Relicase fabricated Countertop Table Display Case and Frameless Freestanding Display Case for these treasures in the galleries. Designed as “black boxes” without natural light, the galleries are quite literally made to allow visitors to appreciate these objects of utilitarian origin. The showcases fade and float in the air so as to best enhance the artworks. These display cases secure and blend perfectly into the awe-inspiring interior spaces of the museum.
