Relicase was honored to provide all display case for the French pavilion

In the centre of Paris, on the banks of the Seine, the museum was installed in the former Orsay railway station built for the Universal Exhibition of nineteen hundred. Over the century, it has been turned into post office, auction house, hotel, and finally the sacred chapel of Impressionist. Now the museum is known as one of the top three art centers in Paris along with the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou.  

Chinese visitors were able to get up close and personal with the treasures from the Musee d 'Orsay at the two thousand and ten Shanghai World Expo without going abroad. With the special approval of the French government, seven pieces of national treasures from the Musee d 'Orsay were exhibited in the French Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo. They were The Age of Bronze by Auguste Rodin. The Angelus by Jean-François Millet, which conveys a sense of religious. The dark pallet arouses a deep and stirring poetic emotion, fairly touching .

The ballroom at Arles by Vincent Van Gogh witnessed the artist’s brief cooperation with Paul Gauguin.

The Meal by Paul Gauguin took on a striking two-registers composition, showcasing the influence of Japanese woodblock prints exerted on Parisian painters in the nineteen sixties. 

La Femme à la cafetière by Paul Cézanne heralds the birth of Cubism and has inspired painters such as Picasso and Braque.

"The Balcony", a typical work of Manet revealed his pursuit for the effect of light and color change, reflecting the Spanish painting style that was very popular in France at the time. Interestingly it was once rejected by the Paris World Expo in eighteen sixty-seven.

La Loge by Piere Bonnard deviated from the traditional high society portraits and created a more poetic world with strong colors.

These impressionist masterpieces from late nineteenth century to early twentieth century broke away from the traditional model of painting and shifted the focus to nature and humanity.

It was the first time the seven masterpieces exhibiting abroad at the same time.

Relicase was honored to provide all display case for the French pavilion, safeguarding these   invaluable treasures. Showcases consisted of twenty-two bays, exhibits were displayed at intervals of two bays. Schott Amiran anti-reflective glass was introduced to manage transparent view of the paintings, while extra-clear glass were used in idling bays to keep the budget down. Materials used in showcases are limited to glass, steel and aluminum alloys. Aluminum honeycomb compound plates used for rear structural panels and the bottom plates were imported from Canada and coated with ICI aqueous metallic paint finish from U.K. Back of the showcases was enforced with steel armor plates up to three millimeters thick, so as to defend unpredictable hazards from electric tools or physical intrusions.

The Art Director of the French Pavilion of the World Expo and professionals of Musee d 'Orsay conducted a stringent on-site acceptance inspection in person. And all the showcases for French Pavilion were confirmed to be built to the highest standard specified by the Haute Quality Environnementale and in accordance with prevailing international standards on exhibits in major museums as well as existing safety standards.



Alain Delon, a most prominent French actor was invited to be the ambassador of French Pavilion. Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and first lady Carla Bruni also attended the scene. That was the story of Relicase with the World Expo and the Musee d 'Orsay.
