The Palace Museum was installed in the imperial palace of two consecutive dynasties - the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing (1644-1911). It is one of the most prestigious museums in China and the world at large.
The Hall of Martial Valor (Wuying dian) is the main building that is an architectural compound that lies to the far west of the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihe dian). Now it is the Gallery of Painting and Calligraphy. The side halls are reserved as the gallery of Books and Archives. In the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the Hall of Martial Valor was the place where emperors went on a fast and receive ministers.
